"Adoption has wrecked our white middle-class family, and we praise God every day for it!"

Seven years ago, we thought our family was complete after having three biological children, but God had other plans. Since that time we have been foster parents, and we have adopted both domestically and internationally. Looking back we can clearly see the paths the Lord ordained that brought us to our youngest son and daughter.

For us adoption means we don't run away from the brokenness in the world but instead choose to embrace it. Our biological children don't see people of color or people with disabilities as strange or scary but rather as members of the family. Our definition of family has been broadened to include anyone we care for and not just someone who shares our biology (or even our last name). We are learning to embrace and celebrate differences in culture and ethnicity.

Adoption has wrecked our white middle-class family, and we praise God every day for it! Our adopted children aren't the lucky ones... we are!
